cumberland and cape may counties. it will be an issue for you this morning, we'll transition into showers and you can see on satellite and later this afternoon and evening, there could showers in spots where the fireworks displays get hinder. right now it looks like spotty stuff. 67 degrees is the current temperature, dry across the region with the sun trying to dig in early. 58 in allentown. 62 in trenton. 67 in wilmington, 69 degrees in came may. the dewpoints are up a little bit higher up over the 60-degree threshhold for humid air. some of you getting the early morning workout in on the 4th of july are going to be sweating a little bit. 66 degrees by 7:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m., 74 degrees, noon, 77. you can see how the clouds are buildings today. 3:00 p.m., high of 80 degrees that's where we wind up this afternoon and 75 by 6:00 p.m. again, the later we get through

people come back from the beach. the vine stayed open, it too, is nice and quiet. nearby the benjamin franklin parkway is shut down for the welcome america festivities, both drives in and out are scheduled to close at 5:00 a.m. old city chestnut street is closed closed to independence mall and hall because of the parade going on later this morning. >> we begin with breaking news, a 16-year-old boy was gunned down at a 4th of july barbecue. police do not believe the bullets were meant for him. annie mccormick is live at police headquarters with the full story. >> reporter: a short time we saw people at the scene that were talking to homicide detectives they were released from there. the 16-year-old was not the intended target. he was transported to the hospital in children's hospital where he was pronouncerred dead later. this is the scene it happened around midnight in the 1800

block of south 31st street in south philadelphia. about a dozen people were enjoying a barbecue and shots rang out from a passing car, it was then that the 16-year-old was shot in the back. investigators found almost a dozen spent shell casings at the scene. gunfire tore through multiple areas of the home. screen door and metal fence. police do not believe the bullets were meant for the 16-year-old. police were talking to witnesses and family members at homicide. they did not want to talk to us an camera. police are looking at real time cameras to get a better description of the vehicle. for now all they can say it was gray in color. now reporting live outside of police headquarters. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." matt, back to you. >> new this morning, a pedestrian was hit in camden, county, new jersey, the victim was walking along the 700 block of white horse pike at 1:00 a.m.

and is hospitalized. police were looking at the silver car. it had front end damage that was spotted nearby. no word whether charge will be filed. septa will roll out a modified schedule to handle the loss of it's 120 regional rail trains that have cracks in the suspension system that could cause a derailment if the train is moving at a high speed. septa is running on a holiday schedule today. tomorrow, people coming to work will feel the change. septa will implement their modified saturday schedule with added rush hour at which point. rush hour will be at 30 minute intervals on most lines. meanwhile, commuters are making plans of their own. >> definitely leaving early or using something else. start using the bus car pool more. >> safety is important, i'm glad to hear they are on top of that. >> reporter: septa is

hours ago involving a tractor-trailer and pedestrian. we don't know why the pedestrian was on the roadway, he or she was struck and killed. the northbound side of 295 is closed because of the investigation. that's why you're not seeing northbound traffic coming through here. the accident happened between route 73 and 38. all the northbound lanes are shut down this morning, instead ahead to the new jersey turnpike or route 41 kings highway or northbound 130. we've seen people using the waze app talking about the crash. it happened on 295 southbound. it happened northbound, but southbound you'll get a gaper delay, as well. overall this is a fun day when we excel -- celebrate america. moorestown has a parade at chester and central avenues. there's the firecracker 5k that starts at 8:00 a.m.

door at a house in the lehigh valley where a homeowner fought off a burglar with machete. on sunday two men broke into a basement on the 200 block of canal street in north hampton borough. the man was sleeping there. the victim was injured, but managed to slash the intruder who lost his hand. the intruder was taken to the hospital and police arrested the other suspect a short time later. a army veteran is credited for saving a bald eagle. he used a rifle to fire 150 shots at the rope and branch also that had the bird entangled. it took 90 minutes and he
